I'm in the process of installing a new Air Force One Brake System on my 2008 American Tradition. I've completed the installation on the Toad (2012 Ford Edge) and it went very smooth. Now getting ready to install the components on the Coach, and I have a couple of questions for any of you that have personally installed one of these.
1) Got under the Coach yesterday and located my Service Relay Valve etc. which is located in front of my rear axle. The Air Force One instructions call for the new Coach Air Connection Assemble to be installed near Service Relay, I assume to make the 1/4 " connection easy. Problem is there is no room to mount the new Coach Air device. Is there any reason this can't be mounted someplace else that's more accessible? I have a electronics bay with tons of room immediately adjacent to where the service relay is located under the Coach. Will this work?
2) My Coach is on the Spartan K-2 Chassis and the Air Force One instruction call for the Metered Air connection to be undone between the Service Relay and Spring Brake Valve. Has anybody done this on there rig? If so, did you have any issues? Photos of your work?
Just want to get it right? Thanks for your help in advance.
Just a head's up. I was at at the Spartan RV school last year. One of the things they do is go over your coach with you and recommend repairs. There were several coaches that had to have work done to the Air Force One system due to improper installation. I would suggest that you give Spartan a call and get some guidance on the installation. I seem to remember them requiring a separate air tank with additional check valves, so as to not have a negative impact on the air system. I am sure they will steer you in the right direction.
