  • Nothing's as good as being there. It makes me sad every year that I don't get to go to this amazing event. I will be sneaking a peek from time to time but there will likely be a tear on my cheek as I really, really miss the times we used to spend there.
  • We will not be going this year since the Indian tribe that owns the Sandia Casino got a little greedy last year and started charging $60.00 per day if you parked in a big empty parking lot they have. We used to park there for free for many years and would enjoy the gambling there and eating in their buffets. $60.00 bucks was not bad if they would have had hookups, but they had nothing. So about ten coaches from California that would caravan to the fiesta decided not to go this year.

Last few years it has rained and the balloons did not take off on some days. Last year we got hit with hail breaking a couple of vent covers. Luckily we found some right away in the small town of Los Lunas.

But it is too bad on the action of the reservation.

If you click here you will load aprox two hours of 4's coverage. By sliding the cursor back you can watch previous footage of their live coverage. So in the East at 11AM you can see the liftoff that usually happens around 7-8 AM local time.

Today (Saturday) looks like a great day to watch as the green flag just went up so all the balloons should get into the air on a perfect day for them.

Checked it off the bucket list last year. Watching it with 4's helicopter view is almost better than being there.
October here in the GA mountains is my favorite month...hard to leave home. Jan/Feb is a different story.

    Dick,

You do have a point - BUT - Last week of September through the first few weeks of November are hard to beat wherever you are.

We Fly out to Colorado for a week with the Snow and Sun (Granddaughter just for kicks) next week and will test the theory.

Will likely do Golden - Peak to Peak/RMNP - maybe Leadville, with the Girls if they have time.

You have the Added Bonus that it stays pretty nice till Christmas, in those Georgia Mountains.

Really Miss the sounds and Smells of being out in the SouthWest.

Just thought it was interesting you watching the Balloons and me the Snow and Geysers in Yellowstone,

    Bill
