As Brett identified, there is a significant cost difference whether or not you are doing your own work. In addition to engine oil/filter changes, many DP's have two fuel filters, a larger more $$$ air filter and an air dryer canister that needs replacement every few years. Not a big deal, but these are some additional expenses. On the positive side, a DP will most likely require fewer brake pad/shoe replacements than a gasser or your 5er. Good luck.
