I can run the antifreeze thru the cold water system, but with the valve for the inflow to the hot water tank of I get no run thru,do I have to fill the HW tank to get flow, there does not seem to be a by- pass valve. What am I missing. THANKS

Mine has 3 valves that you turn to by pass the tank. Check your manual if you have one, otherwise call the MFGR and they should tell you how to bypass the tank. I had a bypass installed on a 1996 gas safari.

My water heater has one bypass valve plus a check valve on the tank outlet. However the check valve never sealed properly so I finally added a shutoff valve in-line between the bypass valve and the tank outlet. End of problem.

Check to make sure your system doesn't have 2 valves. If you only turned one, it could produce the results you're seeing.

I've never seen a hot water heater without a by-pass valve? I would never run pink into the hot water tank....5 gallons of pink or more??????

I'd be very surprised if that 2011 GT doesn't have a bypass system on water heater.

Could be just a 1 valve system with a check valve
Valve handle parallel to cold inlet (bottom line) water would flow into WH tank and then out hot line (top)
Valve handle perpendicular to cold inlet (handle pointed up) water can not flow into WH tank but goes thru line between cold/hot. Check valve in fitting at hot out would close and stop water from flowing backwards into WH tank (but would flow thru the hot water lines to faucets/shower).

1 valve system (shown in 'normal' use---valve handle parallel to cold inlet)

1 valve system converter to a 2 valve system (shut off valve installed in hot out line doing away with the junk check valve---shown in 'normal' use)

2 valve system (shown in 'bypass' use---valve handles perpendicular to cold in/hot out)
Is it time for your medication or mine?

If there is no bypass valve on the plumbing to/from the hot water tank then you will need to install one.

I've currently having an issue with the check valve on my hot water tank - they are pains in the but. Hopefully your setup is more accessible than mine is!
