Anybody Replace Their Stock Horn ?

Seems pretty easy, set up a pot on the stove, boil some water to create steam. run a tube from the boiling pot to an air horn. small valve to build up pressure and release when you want to use. instant steam driven air horn. (ok not so instant, but still...)

It's dangerous enough out there. Trying to get someone's attention with a very loud horn may get you some lead. The guy cutting you off (or whatever frustrates you) doesn't care enough to be careful, may be off his rocker, now you blow your disgusting horn at him, adrenaline flows --- slightly heavier RV.

If you're afraid of lead, just blow your horn at women. Some of them are pregnant.

Is it weird to equate the size/loudness of a horn to the level of danger a vehicle presents? A prius is only dangerous to a bike or pedestrian, therefore only needs a small beep. A semi presents quite a bit more danger, plus takes longer to stop, therefore a louder or bigger horn required. A train is even bigger... and a ocean liner, well you get the picture. I've got a 26' 14k hunk of metal moving at 70mph down the freeway. It will turn your little econobox into a street pizza without too much effort. Almost had it happen when I had my trailer... 7klb ford van + 27' 9klb trailer 70mph on freeway, miata cut me off, just because he didn't want to be behind me. Little squeeky horn won't get much attention in that situation. I don't blame him for not wanting to be behind me, but I don't want to damage my front sway bar by driving over his little go cart either. Still trying to find a good balance. Wouldn't mind a Cadillac set of horns, but that takes 4 horns plus more rewire. Already have too much stuff hooked directly to the battery, it's a mess there now.

Check you states DMV booklet. A horn IS to be used to alert other drivers (or pedestrians), of a hazard. You are suppose to use it when appropriate. That's why every motor vehicle is required to have one. :S

Oh driving back to DC in 2013 and then back to Florida last year, could have came in handy several times especially Florida ! The PPE (piss poor excuse) of the stock horn on most of these MH's is down right inexcusable !

Why do semis have loud horns ;)
All it takes is one use of it to get somebodies attention from coming over into your lane or ? would more than pay for it.

The expense is one thing , the trouble , even tho my lower back is fused, I still like to tinker.
In the last few weeks, I've replaced both the front and rear undersized anti sway bars once again Fords PPE undersized, front and rear shocks.
Last night ordered up the Saf-T-Plus steering stabilizer. Can't wait to get it and install it.

So yep want to put on the air horns , kinda like that old Harley slogan "Loud Pipes Saves Lives" well loud horns wouldn't hurt to have ;)

Do you really use the horn that often to worry about it, to go for the trouble & expense, I've had my Rv going on 10 years & used the horn maybe twice that I can remember, one of those was to honk (or beep) at my daughters house when we were leaving. :h
