I'm considering taking my motorhome (33' Class A gas on Ford F53 chassis) to Henderson's Lineup in Grants Pass, Oregon to have them address the issues I have with it. Most notably is the excessive lean especially going downhill through curves on a mountain highway, and it leans a lot going through a curb cut. I've heard some great things about Henderson's experience with RV handling issues. I've looked through their website and viewed the various videos. Speaking with them on the phone they said I'd likely be looking at $2,000 - $3,000 to correct the issues I'm concerned with (stabilizer bars, trac bar). And of course I could spend even thousands more to address other handling issues.I'd like to hear any experiences with Henderson's especially from owners of Ford chassis gas coaches like mine.Thanks in advance for any and all advice.Ken2013 Newmar Bay Star 3209

Ken,No first hand information, but Henderson (or his service manager) is on my panel when I present the Suspension Seminar at the FMCA Conventions. They are one of the 3-4 top motorhome suspension shops in the country. Being in Oregon, I would feel comfortable recommending them to you.

I was there last year. My primary concern was getting blown around in heavy winds in my 30 ft F53.I took the road test which included weighing my coach on all 4 wheels for the first time. Just getting the right tire pressures helped a lot. I had new sway bars installed which really helped with the wind problem. I spent a couple of weeks traveling Oregon and paying attention to the new handling. I decided to go back and get the shock work they had recommended done too.On the trip home it was like a totally different coach, winds didn't both me, it took curves much better. Had to start watching my speed which I hadn't before. The handling of the coach was a built in speed limit, now I have to keep my eyes on the dial.I spent a lot of money but it was like night and day, the new coach is a dream to drive.With Henderson they will do the road test and give you a list of things you could do, I ended up doing most but not all. You can focus on what your main problem is and they can tell you what fixes will give you the best bang for the buck.They have free hookups so you can stay the night at the shop, there are also some nice RV and State parks in the area.

Gosh we've logged thousands of miles in our F53 (ours is the longest/heaviest version) and never have felt the need to do any suspension mods. Yeah it leans in the turns (so what?), and is affected by crosswinds, passing trucks, etc. As a driver you just have to learn to anticipate all of this and react. Really not that hard to learn.

You are confused. I could care less how your motorhome handles. I am not the one that posted that my coach leans and gets blown around! You did that. Enjoy the ride if you are happy! If I were to comment I would only say that I (me personally) would NOT be happy with a coach that drove as you describe and no one else should be either. Maybe it's because I drive A LOT. If you don't, and you are happy, that's OK, too.

I had a 2000 F53 it leaned to thr right . Contacted Ford & they said it was the Coach MFG. Falt . Took it to over the road Truck spring shop .They took measurements Along with the coach weight & made a leaf spring & instaled it for $ 450.oo It took about 1/2 day . That corrected the lean with out an alingment it drove great .

I had Henderson's do an alighnment and wheel bearing pack on my DP, they did a excellent job and were very clean and professional, they let me walk down in the pit and explained what they were doing. I think Henderson's will do you an excellent job but they are not cheap, the old saying "you get what you pay for" they fit that cliche. 3708

2013 Newmar Bay Star 3209

While I have not had Henderson do any suspension updates, they have done a good deal of work on my RV and toad when we were setting up tow bars, base plates, Remco driveshaft disconnects and towed braking systems. We have used them multiple times over the last 10 years and we have never had a single issue. I would trust them with anything on my coach.
