Anyone traveling yet

We have been ready to go since end of Feb. First destination is still closed and not much sense in going unless we can see the sites along the way

Just returned from Perdido Key, on the gulf. Pretty full resort and a lot of RV's on the road. Didn't see anyone hugging, kissing or even hanging in groups of 10 or more but sure was a lot fun for everyone there.

Yep, I plan to do do what I want when I want. If I want to go camping I will find a place and go. If you are so worried then stay home and hide in the closet! I for one have been doing the same thing I have always done since March! I’ve been going to work everyday working on different cars daily.

All this Covid “stuff” has gotten so out of hand it’s become laughable. The elderly and sick should stay home and be safe. Let everyone else get back to a normal life!

Wildtoad is wishing for a ideal that will never be or never will be sustained. Wildtoad’s objective is the “fun” of camping and he/she unable to postpone its pleasures. Short term vs. long term.

How the heck is someone driving in an RV, staying at a state park, or KOA, walking down the trails, going to the same grocery chain as when home, following the CDC guidelines for masks, distancing, and not touching any thing in any way going to spread the virus? If I can go to my local grocery store, pharmacy, gas station, big box store, how is going to a campground any worse? If I use my own food, cooked on my campsite or in my RV, and say squat to my neighbor how is that spreading the virus? If I can go inside a restaurant to pick up a to go order In my small town, I should be able to do the same thing near the campground. The only difference - oh wait there is none!

I get it we have to be cautious and wash this, cover that, stand back. But there are ways to do things we’ve always done.

I'm in Georgetown, TX and my 30 days are up Wednesday. I've got reservations in Waco and Dallas at a private and city park. Then I have 8 days of reservations in Oklahoma state parks (plenty of sites were available). After that I plan to find a 30 day campground rental near Fayetteville, AR. I'm trying to escape the 90 degrees temps that are starting in central Texas now. AC is running about 8 hours straight during the days this week. After that I may head Northwest. Google says Oregon is nice in the summer. Washington is chilly. Imagine that. Sweaters in August. Not worried about the virus that ate New York. I'm not fat and I don't have other health problems after 60 years of taking good care of my body.

We left Arizona a few days ago going north through Nevada, Idaho, Oregon, and WA. All rest areas were open that we saw on our route. We stayed at truck stops, and a casino parking lot(it was closed) with several other rv's spending the night. We also spent the night in a mall parking lot in WA for a couple of days visiting family. Police car waved as he drove through the parking lot. We saw quite a few cars on the road while traveling, but there were lots of RV's traveling also.

Motorhome is packed and ready to go, departing next Tuesday for a week away about 100 miles from home. DW is a nurse, her doctors say we've nothing to worry about as long as we keep our distance from anyone else. Full tank of diesel. Everything we'll need is taken from home so no need to venture out to any stores.

There are new rules at our destination; online registration/payment/site assignment, no kids, no public bathrooms/showers, no laundry, no visiting in other sites. Travel safe, travel smart.

Things are looking up? Almost 70,000 Americans have died from this virus. For instance Mississippi WAS "opening up" and yesterday had their largest number of new cases. I can wait for the "fun of camping" until this virus is under control.

Mississippi - "Gov. Tate Reeves was to proceed with his plan to get people back to work, but announced the change of plans on Friday as 397 new coronavirus cases were confirmed and 20 more people died."
