Arizona pack rat problems?

Arizona is my home, grew up and worked in Phx. There are several enviromental friendly products you can use. I've used Mouse Magic and Shake Away for many years. Sprinkle it down and park coach over it then sprinkle a circle around coach. If you're not under cover and it rains reapply the circle. Smells nice too. Several people in the Park I'm in now are using the solar blinking under RV lights, I've seen rabbits run up then run away from them, same with the products I'm using.

My problem might also have to do with the reality of my surroundings. One neighbor has a big ivy/bushy area in their yard that I imagine makes a nice home for rats and mice. The other side of my house is a natural brush empty lot. I imagine if there are not nearby areas enticing to rodents, there might not be a problem in the vehicles.

I don't know about in storage yards, but I've had rats/mice eat wires in all my vehicles at home (RV is parked beside house). No insect problems though!

We used to use bait around the outside of the house. Rats just took the bait into the engine compartment and stored it in a cozy corner for a tasty treat later. One time we came home after a couple months to a huge nest built right on top of the car battery (the car we left at home).

I'm not trying to scare you. My experience may not be representative of others in AZ or in storage yards. But you asked for actual experience by Arizonans, so there ya go.

The only thing that has worked for us has been light. We keep shop lights in or under the engine of all vehicles. Never had a problem since then. Don't imagine you have electricity at storage yard, so maybe the solar rope lights (mentioned in another post) will do the trick.

I once heard this guy say that peanut butter and golden malrin does the trick. He also told me to be careful handling the golden malrin. He said it will kill other critters too so placement is emphasized.

Although this problem exists, if you're storing the coach in a high traffic area, the pest are less likely to invade. I've parked my trailers and Class A outside in a semi-rural area for over 18 years and haven't had any issue yet. But as said earlier, seal all of the holes you can with spray foam insulation. I've even seen people run solar powered rope lights underneath their rigs which seem to ward off the critters as well. Lastly, if you run the coach monthly as well, it helps show a presents. I am more concerned w/ the engine wires being damaged for AZ area storage . I have stored my MH outdoors in Colorado for 16 yrs and never had any rodent problems inside or outside, but i'm looking for answers from people in AZ that are having success with their methods to keep from rodent invasion. Yes, eHoefler I am aware of rodent invasion "as with any other place".
