Attaching Blackstone grill to RV LP accessory connector

Researched portable grills for RV which has an external LP accessory connector on the passenger side of the coach next to the door.

Been contacting both Winnebago and Blackstone to see how I can attach the grill which is designed for 20 lb LP tanks - no luck yet.

Worse case, I have to buy and carry a 10 lb or 20 lb LP tank for the grill. Asked Blackstone for an adapter for 5 lb LP tank.

Any experience with LP accessory connector on coaches? Any thoughts on carrying a 5 lb LP tank in the external coach compartment?
  • Take the black pipe out of your Blackstone and unscrew the fitting that connects to its regulator...may need to put it in a vise...that thing is tight. That fitting's threads match that of a 3/8" compression fitting. I bought a 3/8" male to 1/4" npt male adaptor (sku 645791). Screw that on the black pipe and reinstall it (use gas tape). Now screw a 1/4" union (sku 645697) and (I already had) the 1/4" quick connector that fits into the other end of the union on the end. Works great.
  • Yes, I converted all my appliances (BBQ, firepit, etc) to run off the RV system.
Very easy to do but you must remove the items regulator. All I have seen are attached with a simple NPT fitting and I simply adapted a male quick disconnect to them. Then I made up extension hoses.
You could skip the extensions and just connect the rubber line to the BBQ. Ebay has many of them.
I did all this because there was no safe or convenient way for me to carry a cylinder.

This pic may be confusing but after removing the reg, I was left with an 1/8" male NPT. I could have used an adapter fitting to convert that to the male quick disconnect but I just tapped the inside of the QD to accept the 1/8NPT.

The conversion on my fire pit:

I have two 10' hoses and one 5' hose'. I can use one or all of them.
I also made a hose that has the BBQ's regulator (because it has the highest flow and will work for anything) on one end and a quick disconnect on the other. Using that, I can still run any of my modified appliances off a bulk cyl.

I have about $100 wrapped up in all the hoses and fittings.
