Atwood G6A7E water heater tank replacement advice needed
Hi there!
Our water heater tank cracked during winter - long story short - it seems that emptying the tank of our European class C and the American Class A (Damon Challenger 1996) is actually different... anyway now we need to replace it. I am not having much luck finding an used one on craigslist so I ask for your advice in any of the following possibilities:
- if someone knows any places (junk yards) I could buy a used one around Vancouver - please, do tell
- the new one is about 700C$ on amazon, 900C$ in the RV shops - and I am not sure if it is actually my model... one says they have only tank, the other says my model does not have the tank sold separately, third one says my model has been replaced with another model G6A8AE... etc. Which makes me feel really uncertain what to do and who to trust. Not mentioning that they want to replace it and they don't have appointments available for months
- I am reading online for tankless water heaters - found Gerard 2GWHAM - price is almost same as the atwood with the tank - has very controversial reviews... some say it is the best purchase ever, some say it does not work and you can't return it.. maybe there are more reliable brands and models which are tested in the forum you could recommend...
We are really confused what to do here - we are looking for the quickest cost efficient solution as we have 2 kids under 5 and not having hot water makes our life quite harder and our vacations not that pleasant :))
