I've got six dogs and only one was a good traveler and he tended to get homesick after a few weeks. It's all about the individual personality. Three of my dogs are too high-strung. One gets carsick and doesn't enjoy being away from home. The pit bull is a great dog, but many parks won't allow them and he gets homesick.
I'm thinking about driving to Alaska when I retire in a couple of years and don't think I'll take any of them. I want to be able to take some side trips and hike some of the trails in the National Parks. Most don't allow dogs and I don't want to leave them alone for 12 to 14 hours. I'll miss them and they'll miss me, but I don't think they would enjoy it.
