i replaced our old Aqua Magic plastic toilet a couple months ago and went with the Dometic 311 low profile(same as 310 only bone color).I bought a 1/4" riser from the hardware store, turned it to the 3 and 9 o'clock position, siliconed and then screwed to down. Waited until the next day to set the toilet and all is fine. The gasket will compress a little more than usual but still seals. I know one person that heated up a spare toilet bolt enough to push the bolt through the flange around to the correct position. It's doable either way, the other mentioned toilets are fine but not for the budget minded IMO
It's too late for me, but can you explain this "riser" solution? Is it pretty much the same as their adapter kit? I got this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0050EIREW/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1It's made for converting from 4 bolt to 2 bolt, but that flange solves the 11 o'clock/5 o'clock problem I think (that one is bone, obviously they make a white one too). I haven't installed it yet (should be here Monday). I was dismayed to find that not only were my bolts in the wrong place, the flange was cemented. Upon removing the toilet it was evident it had been leaking for a long time. I, too, plan to silicone between the flange and the adapter (riser?). The kit comes with a base to account for the difference in height with the adapter (3/8" it says). I'm a little concerned because the toilet is already 18" high. It might not be comfortable for people of smaller stature at that height (my GF's feet don't touch the floor when she drives my truck, for example :) ). But, it should look nice. Nearly all of the reviews are favorable on the Dometic 310/320.
