Black & Decker SpaceMaker Coffee maker removal...

How do you remove this coffee maker?

Mine is under a shelf and the top of the coffee maker is around 4" above the bottoms of the other cabinets that are on either side of the coffee maker. So not much space or view to figure out how to remove one. And the opening it's in is just wide enough for it...like it was an OEM install. I've got all the info that came with it, but there's no mention of how to remove the coffee maker once you've snapped it into the under cabinet brackets.

I can feel some screws coming down from above through the shelf but there's not much room to get any kind of screw driver in there except a stubby. Isn't there a latch of some kind? Or is it just those hard to get to screws only?

Here's what mine looks like, and I want to remove mine to replace with the same model but can't find any info on how to get it out of the snap in brackets after many Google searches. I've felt all over the bracket things where I can reach and can't find a trigger to release the coffee maker to allow it to be pulled back out. Pulling on it doesn't do anything.

B&D Coffee Maker

Anyone know how to remove this thing??

Click on open as PDF. Then do CTRL + several times to zoom in on the template and mounting brackets.
CTRL zero will take you back.

  • I have that document. It doesn't show how to remove it anywhere that I can find. But I zoomed on that PDF and got a good view of those brackets. Doesn't seem to be a latch that's unlatch-able. So I think it's those screws and only those screw up above that will allow removal.

I'd try tomorrow to remove them when I have more light.

You should be able to slide the unit out of its mounting bracket to access the screws by pulling hard enough on it.

That doesn't seem to work with mine.

Oh, wait a sec...there seem to be two brackets screwed from the bottom into the shelf behind the coffee maker (so easy to reach) that I missed before. I'll remove those tomorrow and try to push/pull and see what happens. The screws faded into the dark background and I missed them on my first/second/third check. Once I saw them, I now see that they hold a couple angle pieces that hold the back of the coffee maker solid so it can't be pushed up. Once I remove the the screws, it may be a different story.

Couldn't wait to try that so did it just now. Once those brackets were unscrewed, pushed up and pulled and it came right out! Those brackets are held on top of the coffee maker with double sided tape so they're just there to keep it from bounding while driving.

    Thanks guys! You're the best.
  • We had an under counter B&D drip coffee maker many, many years ago. It had two brackets on the side of the coffee maker that screwed into the bottom of the cabinet and the coffee maker hung from the bracket. There was a catch on the bracket that released the coffee maker, and it slide forward (on the bracket - rail - track). Once the coffee maker is off the track, the screws that held up under the cabinet could be removed. Of course, installing was just the opposite. Attach the bracket-track first, then slide the coffee maker in until the clip catch caught it. Maybe yours is the same way. Look, feel, for a catch that releases the coffee maker from the track holding it in.
  • I wouldn't replace it, if mine.
We learned to hate those in our last two coaches and have since went to a free standing coffee maker that sits on the bar. This one, in fact.. and even though the coffee is expensive, there's no waste and every cup in fresh and use it for afternoon green tea, as well. I believe there's a wide choice of beverages for this machine, as well.
