Black water tank

When I am dumping my black water tank in my 05 Bounder 35-E I use the built in sprayer to flush out the tank. I do this with the dump vale open. My question is can I keep the dump vale shut to put water back into the tank and get a better flush? I worry about to much pressure in the tank if I keep it closed? Thanks Tom
  • Tom, I also have a oscillator flush on my coach. The Winnebago manual says to open the tanks when using the oscillator! I have done it both ways with success!

The tank is NOT pressurized as it has a vent that goes up on the roof. So, not to worry.

The only problem with closing the drain while using the rinse at the same time is that if for some reason you get distracted and forget that the rinse is still on.... you will have a surprise coming as when the tank gets full, it will force water up the toilet and out on your floor. Don't ask me how I know this.

What I do is I have attached a quick disconnect on my black tank rinse hose at the faucet and I keep my iPhone in my pocket with a 3 minute timer/alarm. When the alarm goes off, I turn off the water to the hose and REMOVE it from the faucet.

So to answer your question.... yes, you can use the rinse to put water back into your black tank.

My toilet seals are good enough to prevent toilet back leaks but my roof vent sure lets it flow!! Talk about a good flush though!

its called a VALVE not vale. yes you can close the valve and run the flush valve. just don't walk away and forget its filling :B

I close the black tank valve while back flushing but I don't fill the tank. unless you have a very small tank a minute or two of back flushing won't damage anything and I think this provides for a better flush.

  • Yes, you can do that and it's how I do it.
But never, ever walk away from it while your filling it!
  • No problem, I do that all the time to make sure it all gets out!
  • Your black tank is vented. If you add water, air will go up the vent. Fill it up! Have fun!

I add water to my tank this way too. It helps for a good rush-of-flush!
