Yah our little diesel is now 11 years old. But Angelas electric smart is even more fun to drive. Amazing power. I don't even know how to calculate the equivalent mpg in that one. I know a run to costco about 110 KM away costs us about 1.70 in power :). AFter a year and a bit I had to top up the washer fluid so roughly 30 cents in maintenance in about 14 months. :) - Kayteg1Explorer IIOT, any owner of 60+ mpg car is smart to me :D

I own a 42ft. Motor Home. I have heard people call them a BUS or a MOTOR HOME. I would like to know which term is correct?
one fella that used to inhabit one of the old newsgroups used to call them...actually ANY RV that was longer than a Smart Car (what's so smart about them?) buldge-mobiles.
we call our 39' gasser "the camper" but her real name is Banana Boat III.
Smart derives from cooperation with Swatch and Mercedes: Swatch Mercedes ART.
Hence the name smart. Just kind of a coincidence that it means smart in English. There market is not an English speaking market. Of the roughly 2 million produced the vast majority are in non English countries so the word smart doesn't really mean much.
You asked. :) - sailor_louExplorerWe usually say RV, bus, coach, motorcoach and even motorhome sounds a little pretentious to us. On the other hand, my 85 year old mother calls every type of RV, whether it be a Class A, B, C, 5er or TT a trailer, so when she's onboard it's a trailer.
Just enjoy it whatever it's called.

...... Bus Conversions are built on Bus frames example : Prevost and Marathon. I hope I don't get roasted on this one!
Just in case anyone is interested.....
Prevost builds the bus shell....Marathon uses a Prevost bus shell to convert it into a motor home.
So....
Marathon, Country Coach, Angola, Liberty, Milleninum, Vantare, Featherlight, Outlaw, Vogue, Royale, Riata, Vision, SuperBus and several others all use (or used) a Prevost shell as the foundation. - et2ExplorerWhen people ask about what our DP looks like. I tell them a fancy bus. Best description I can give without pictures.

We always "play down" the many virtues of our beautiful 2008 42ft Monaco Dynasty when in general conversation with people not familiar with the camping world and just call it "our camper". Otherwise they feel "funny" and call us "rich folks". It makes no difference to us if there is a "correct name" we just love what it affords us to do. To us it will always be just "our camper".

We still call ours "the trailer" out of habit and it kind of stuck. - beckerExplorerWe always "play down" the many virtues of our beautiful 2008 42ft Monaco Dynasty when in general conversation with people not familiar with the camping world and just call it "our camper".
