I sold one of my Classic Cars and the buyer insisted on paying cash because he didn't feel safe with a wire transfer. Ok with me. When he got here with the cash we went directly to MY bank to make the deposit. They knew me so it was no big deal but they did verify that all cash was legit. No paperwork to fill out since it s the BANK that issues the red flag on cash transactions.
When I bought one RV. I paid cash and was with the buyer when he paid off the loan and I got the title. He had to pay almost $10K more than I gave him to get out from under his coach. I doubt that would have happened at a dealer but this buyer had already purchased another RV and he had no room for two.
Every deal is different but if you feel comfortable with the seller, I feel the best deals are going to be with a private seller.
