Car hauler

I use "J" hooks that are crossed on the rear, with ratchet straps. Axel straps on the front, with ratchet straps. I installed "E" Track down both sides of the trailer, I have a wooden deck, love being able to adjust the point of tie down with the E-Track.

That sounds pretty easy. I'm curious what size and/or weight rating straps you're using? I usually think of chains in terms of securing equipment to trailers but I guess large straps would do just as well as long as they are large enough.

Is this car an import? It may have tie-down hooks already on the chassis for this purpose. Simply cross the 4 ratchet tie-down straps in X arrangements front and rear; tighten as snug as they can be clicked, and you're good to go. I've towed cars by trailer over 100k miles without issue.

It is a Mercedes. I have the e track too. Was thinking about using the webbing that goes around the wheels.

X2...that's been my experience too.

My straps were 5,000. Car only weighed 3200lbs. Pontiac Soltice

IMO the straps need to be strong enough to hold the vehicle in a panicked stop or accident situation.

I believe in overkill when towing on my car hauler. I use crossed straps with protected loops on rear axle and front A arms. Then a second set of straight straps with T hooks to the factory frame slots to control sprung mass. I have never had a strap loosen during transport with this arrangement, but also could have two straps fail and still be secure. I know its overkill but just like when we tow four down, I don't want issues when travelling. As far as tie downs go, look at Mac's Tie Downs. Also read some of their articles, lots of good info and stories for thought......
