chevy malbu maxx as toad
we have a 2005 chevy malabu maxx and we talked the the chey dealer and they said u cant flat tow this car where do i find the right ans for this help

Yes, unless it is a relatively rare SS model as mentioned above, it IS towable four down. I towed a 2004 Malibu Maxx for four years. Worked great as a toad. - thx u all for all your help this site has helped me a lot with our dp
- Stuff like this makes me steam at the ears....When a dealer is representing a manufacturer is questioned on something so easy, and they give an incorrect response without validating the answer, the manufacturer should revoke the franchise on the spot...if they don't know, state I don't know but be happy to research the results. Amazing , simply amazing...
- The Maxx is a body style. Nothing about the body style precludes towing, if you have the right transmission. You have the right transmission if you have the right engine.
A Malibu with a high performance V-6, is not towable because GM mated that engine to the 4T65E transmission, rather than the 4T45E that made Malibu towable. You can find that combination in either sedan or Maxx. Basically it is an Impala drivetrain dropped into the Malibu, for performance.
Malibu SS always had the bigger engine, whether sedan or Maxx, but you could also buy the combination as an option for the LT trim.
The problematic drivetrain was pretty rare, when I was shopping in 2006 the dealer told me I would have to special order it. Remco doesn't even list the combination. - Section 4.35 of the Owner's Manual says you can flat tow.
