Class B for 6'5" guy?

With a lot of backpacking, camping and RV experience under my belt, I've decided a Class B is probably the best design for me (mostly dry camping, but in some squirrely places). However, I am also 6'5" tall and would really like to be able to stand up inside the rig.

Are there any Class Bs with tall interiors?

My height is what has forced me to nix a school bus conversion (since I don't have the time to raise he roof).

Your real problem is sleeping. Most beds are too short for you. Whatever you decide on , be sure to lay down as if you're sleeping.

The high-roof Transit cargo van has 81-1/2" of interior headroom. The problem I foresee for someone tall, is finding a bed long enough. Sportsmobile will build whatever you want; there are other van outfitters who can do the same.

Class Bs confined to a van have two choices I think for over 6'-3" height. Those with pop-tops like Sportsmobile or those with fiberglass total tops. The latter is made in Europe such as the James Page model. In the US Airstream imported and sold about 200 of them in 2005-6 and marketed as the Airstream Westfalia. More recently Advanced RV was converting the Superhigh Sprinter van with a 7 foot interior height but Mercedes Benz stopped importing that model. They might have some on sale in the pre-owned market since they take back trade-ins of their RVs and refurbish them.

Not helpful. The Pleasure-way Plateau XLMB is in a Class B Camper van conversion.

Check out Sportsmobile, we have the penthouse top on ours and plenty of headroom for my 6'4" husband.

We used to have a Chinook 18' and my 6'0" husband says he thinks he remembers having enough headroom, but it was kind of close. I haven't been inside any, but would some of the newer, Euro-Mercedes-style Bs have more headroom? They seem to appear taller, but maybe it's just that they're narrower than other Bs and "B+" models I've noticed lately. It might be worth checking out, at least.

There isn't much leg room anywhere, cars, airplanes, you name it. I learned to live with that 35 years ago.

But it's nice to be able to stand up sometimes.

Anything on a Chevy Chassis or maybe a sprinter would be a better choice.

I think if you want a true B you will need to look at the Ford chassis, something like the Winnebago Paseo. The specs for that call out 6'6". My Sprinter chassis calls out 6'3" and that's pretty accurate.

Winnebago View could work for you? A little larger than your average class B but utilizes the class B Mercedes chassis.

Dry camping in a B can be a “tank” capacity problem as well as paying a premium over Cs.
