Agreed, you can camp out of town, then drive your RV to their parking lot. - Mile_HighExplorerYou might verify that large parking area is still there (I assume across the tracks, facing the Double Tree hotel). Last time I was through there I don't recall seeing it.

No need for a cab. The town trolley stops there, and will take you downtown, which includes the train station. - richconnExplorerAnother thing to consider. Stay in Silverton. Campgrounds in walking distance, and it's a nice mountain town. Take train to Durango. Everything around train station within walking distance.

Everything around train station within walking distance. - JimExplorerI did the stay in Silverton than ride the train down to Durango, afterwards take a comfy bus back up to Silverton. Worked great. Would have liked more time in Durango and I could have paid for a room that night, but chose not to.
Very nice train trip. But I'm partial to trains. Silverton is really a very cool town. Glad I stayed there for the week.
