In terms of "getting your feet wet" have you considered renting an RV for a trip? I've seen a lot of your posts and you are asking a lot of the right questions but very few people ever buy their last RV first. It usually takes several iterations and that gets very expensive. Ask me how I know. It's great trying to figure out what you want but the issue is, having never done this before, you don't know what you don't know. And it gets pricey figuring that out. And despite what you think you want and 100 people agreeing with you, it won't matter if it's not really what you want once you figure out what that is. Renting an RV and taking a decent trip albeit expensive is worth it's weight in getting your feet wet without taking a beating on depreciation. Think of it in terms of taking a class. Renting will allow you to "live" the RV life for a short period an open your eyes to things you never thought of. There are just too many variables to make this decision on research alone - although research is critical. But instead of taking a beating of depreciation on buying something and selling to get what you really want, renting is a far easier alternative.
