Has anyone used one of those new type of folding collapsible water hose! I can't find any for sale in local RV sections of stores? Seems like they would fold up and store real nice.

Those hoses CANNOT be left ON....they are only good for sporatic watering...be sure to read the label....Dennis

I'll 2nd that, one the kids gave me lasted 2 1/2 days hooked up & water pressure was never over 50 psi. There were times the 12V pump would come on, just to supply enough water for a shower, so the water pressure never got to high.

Has anyone tried the DAP X-HOSE PRO? It's a little bit more expensive, but has brass ends and a lifetime warranty. Although not drinking water quality, it might be good for the house or general RV purposes.

I have had a good experience with mine. I had mine for about a month, was going to wash the roof of the MH so decided to try it out, I tied the regular hose to the top of the ladder then connected the new hose to it, worked great a lot better than pulling your regular hose around on top, now I don't think it would last for every day use but you can't beat it for the top. I have one of the "Pocket Hoses"

Great for re-filling the on board tank.. I've not tried it as a "City Water" hose though. Of course that is also not what I bought it for (Washing and re-filling yes, City water no)
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

I got mine from Walmart.50 foot hose

Why aren't they good for drinking water?

Because the inner material that comes in contact with the water has not been approved for drinking and may contain contaminates that could leach into your water and thereby into you!

There are a few different manufacturers of these hoses, some of really poor quality, some a bit better. As stated above, good for occasional washing duties.

The growing hoses seem to be a GREAT idea! We used them in April during our first outing of the year. I even recommended them to other RVers. The problem is how they are made. They seem to have spiral cuts running the length of the silicone hose inside the fabric covering, the allows the hose to grow and shrink. These spiral cuts are not depth controlled, and leaks start. I have had 4 of these hoses, and though they were great, until they started leaking. Unless someone can find one that actually works and does not spring leaks, they would be the answer to hoses, both RVing and around the house. They advertise the DAP hose at about $50, but I will not be the one to spend that much for a hose that has such a BAD rep.

Hey SML,
How ya doin' Partner? As far as those hoses are concerned, IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHERE THEY'RE TO BE PURCHASED AND USED! Mine is a U.S. Forest Service Hose. It's completely nylon and can hold some serious pressure. It roles up to about 9-10" in diameter and when all stretched out, around 60' long. I've had some fairly decent pressure on that hose, around 75 psi and it held it without issue. We have a powered hose reel on our coach so, I never use it for water entry into the coach. It's used for washing and other applications.

You can find them at fire equipment supplies stores etc. Now, mind you, it's not going to be a "Walmart" price! In fact it will be probably around 4 times the Walmart price on one of those. I've had mine for years and it has never failed me. I forgot what I paid for it. But, if you want one that WILL hold up to the rigors of camping etc. I'd surely look for one of those. Good luck.

Thanks for all the posts! I'm going to pass on it since it doesn't hold up very well when being used with normal to high water pressure! I really liked how it folded up for storage, which caught my eye.

The ones you see at Walmart and pharmacies are not good. More than once we have seen them not be more than a week old and leak like crazy. Now, we have one of those that rolls up and you can store 50 feet in a fraction of the space. We bought it at camping world. We only use it for washing, but seems to work just fine.

Two weeks ago we were camping and a family with a new rig was parked next to us. They tried to use a collapsible green hose (the ones sold at CVS and Walmart) and it did not go well. The hose didn't last the weekend - it was leaking everywhere and wouldn't hold pressure. I loaned him my spare hose to fill up his onboard tanks, and he went the next day to get a regular hose.
