I have a tu 740 2 converter that charges for about 30 minutes then drops to 1/2 charging and then dead if I use any lights. Is this dead or something else.
If your converter doesn't maintain 13.2 volts all the time that you're plugged into shore power, it is likely bad. bestconverter really is. Used them twice replacing WFCO that all the manufacturers use for OEM.
check www.bestconverter.com out of Idaho- they may have a drop in replacement for you. we had a parallax go bad on us after 3 years and this is what we did.
It is an old Magnetek 740 2. The batteries are brand new and were fully charged. The converter showed charging fully for 30 minutes then dropped to charging 1/2 charge and when I turned on interior coach lights it stopped charging and lights dimmed. I am using a battery maintainer charger right now until I know that converter is bad. All voltage is good with output at 12.2 then 8 then 0 output. The battery charger has been perfect for a week now with no drop in output so I know batteries are good and output to all DC appliances are working correctly.
Sorry, tbarnby, can't really make out what you're trying to say. Is 'tu' a brand? If it charges for 30 minutes and goes dead, does that mean it has no output whatever? Have you measured the voltage on the batteries? What lights? House or headlights?
