Convertible full size bed in half

Has anybody thought about full size bed that would fold in half, lift and tuck away under its own bed frame. I have a big issue with how crowded a bedroom can be not only to make up the bed but two people been in the room at the same time. t would be great to get out of bed and put it away for the day and have all that room. I figure replacing the bed with a sofa bed but they are so uncomfortable and a hazel to manage also my DW would not have it. Any thought/ideas?
Just another idea to have something to do on my spare time, have lots of that!
Have a great day happy Rving

  • Newell uses a Murphy bed too and Foretravel put an electric bed in and it crunches up a bunch.
  • I have Murphy bed at home and it is a standard queen mattress. Very comfortable. No different than platform bed or RV bed. I always thought Safari had great use of space. The drop bed in lounge was clever. Let you have a 25 ft class A that functioned like a much longer unit. Furnishings have to fold or stow easily like nesting. An elegant wood lounger with cushions would work. Like those on the queen Mary.
  • Saw a Murphy bed in a new class A, trouble was they put the flat screen TV on the bed or rather under the bed. This made it impossible to watch from the bed. They had reduced the price of this MH by about half and it still had not sold. They also put two large recliners in the bedroom, so when the bed was down, there wasn't any room to walk around the end of the bed.
  • My 2007 Newmar Canyon Star has a Murphy bed that folds into the wall and creates a second living room. Model number is 3642. Works well for us, only downside is you have to open both rear slides to pull down the bed so taking a nap in a rest stop is out of the question.
  • There are a few rare cases of murphy beds. I saw one that had a small couch that would fold up from under when the bed was up. The folding into itself never works good for mattresses that are actually comfortable.
  • The Safari Trek and some Holiday Rambler Class A's had queen sized beds that would just retract into the ceiling, leaving all of the floor space when not being used for sleep. Neat idea and quality coaches.
  • I also think Murphy beds are the answer. I saw one on a TT....trying to remember the show. I don't see why it could not be done in a MH and still have a decent mattress.
  • Murphy bed is the answer but it never seemed to catch on. I think there were a few efforts. Saw a class c tioga with one.

This pretty much defines the problem. As soon as you divide a two-person sleeping surface into something that folds up smaller, it is not the same thing for sleeping (or other two-person bed activities). The jack knife sofa in the RV, or the futon sofa in the kid's living room, is simply not the same thing as a full or queen size bed.
