I just winterized my 2005 HR Admiral and it seemed ridiculously easy. My last MH took much longer. I am afraid that i might have missed something. Take a look at what I did and let me know if I missed anything.Drained all holding tanks. Black, Grey and potable.Drained the hot water tank.Drained the 3 water lines in the wet bay area.Put 5 gallons of RV anti freeze into the potable water tank via the ez poor filler on the side of the RV.changed the hot water tank by-pass valve to by-bass the tank.turned the pump on.ran water (first hot then cold) through the faucets (kitchen, bathroom, outside shower) until pink was flowing freely. Ran the toilet until pink was flowing freely.poured anti-freeze into each drain.reopened the 3 wet bay drains until pink flowed freely. The entire project took about 20 minutes and was super easy. Did I miss something? How could it have been that easy? My last MH was so much more a pain in the butt.

I don't have to winterize but if the black tank is left empty aren't you afraid that any leftover sediments might become dried out and hard over the winter?

It is even easier if you blow the lines out with compressed air. (Cheaper too) but yes. it's that easy. Many people pay upwards of 100 dollars for that service.

You did it OK. Just make sure next spring you rinse your fresh water tank good to get all the pink out of it. Your water will continue to be foamy from the faucets until it's all cleared out, even though it may look clear in a glass after filling. When the foam finally is gone with the faucet is open, it's all good then.

I did mention the outside shower in the OP but I also did forget the toilet sprayer. I will take care of that tonight. Thanks for the heads up on that one.

The items I did not see mentioned in addition to the outdoor shower are the spray hose in the kitchen sink, if any, and the sprayer for the toilet, again if any. They are real easy to replace if you let them freeze with water in them :(

Yep, it always has for me. But then, I am in SOUTHERN Montana. It never goes lower than 20 or 30...
BELOW zero F., that is.
My coach is drained and blown out, now I have to get the pink junk for the drain traps, and go dump the tanks. I should top off the gas tank, but I might just leave it.

So as you see, three schools of thought:B
Blow it out only, blow it out and then AF, or AF alone.

It's really personal preference, if you feel that blowing out lines will work for you and it does - great. If it doesn't you'll know better next time:S.

I'm in fairly cold spot during the winter (one night last year was -40 C/F the only freezing point where Celsius and Fahrenheit are the same), unusual but it did happen. We do go weeks without it getting above freeing so I don't take chances, I drain the lines and then put in antifreeze as suggested in the winterizing section of my manual using the pump. The even have a placard by the pump vales explaining what to do. They say nothing about blowing out the lines.

So far so good and once I sanitize in the spring any after taste is gone.

But my long term plan is not to winterize in a few years. Florida or Arizona here I come!

Still working full time here, so we just pull ours into a heated garage. We haven't winterized since 2001.

I have had RVs since 1969 and always had the black tank empty over the winter. I had a stand-alone ice maker in my Mountain Aire and only drained the line to it. It makes ICE!! Don't put pink stuff in your ice maker . It will remove a coating on the partitions and make it hard to get all the ice out. I do mine with 1/2 gal. of pink and the air compressor an have been doing that for many years. It does get cold here, -10F is not unusual in Jan-Feb.

I live in the cold Northeast where we had 11 feet of snow sitting in my yard at one point last winter. Yes 11 feet sitting there. Remember that snow compresses' between the storms and as weight build up on it so in order to have 11 feet sitting you need to get about 20 feet without any thawing.

So our Motorhoming season is a short 5-6 months a year. My addiction of food, utilities and a roof over my head keep me form moving where there is no snow. Someday, someday.
