Cuise Control Problems on 2002 Itasca Sunova

Hey, I'm looking for some advice on troubleshooting my cruise control on my Class A RV. Earlier in the year, we had some intermittent problems with the cruise after getting the RV front end aligned. When I had it looked at they replaced the SERVO since it wasn't getting any signals…only to have to stop working again down the road 2000 miles. I can't go back to the place that did the previous work, so I'm looking to troubleshoot the problem myself first. If I can find the issue and fix easily, then good savings.

It's a Ford 6.8L V10 chassis. I can't seem to find any good troubleshooting links on the Internet that help.

Any ideas?

I've checked the obvious, fuses and lights.

Thanks
  • On my 1999 Winne F53 the speed sensor was on the top of the rear axle. Cheap fix. It would give me all kinds of failures.
  • I will watch this closely as my cruise is acting up.....If I set it it continues to accelerate to about 10 more mph before it sets. Try that when setting at 65!!!!
  • Often overlooked until a lot of parts have been swapped out is the brake switch.

When in cruse and you press the brake pedal it disconnects the cruse control. If the switch fails or moves for what ever reason the cruse control will not engage. The switch is above the brake pedal rod there may be 2 switches one for brake lights and one for cruse control.
  • I had similar issues on my ford chassis and it was the CVs, some velocity sensor thingy on the transmission. a cheap fix at the time.
