Bought mine t AutoZone. Our dash gauges are impossible to see in certain daylight conditions with headlights or parking lights on or off.

The dash lights/radio lights were always dim and hard to see on the dash in if the headlights were on. Reason --- it's not really dark out so they don't illuminate enough to seem bright. Our F53 has daytime running lights so unless it got really dark or rainy we would not have a need to have headlights on during the day.

Ok what happens with backlit displays is this, When you turn on the parking lights (Which come on with the headlights) the dash lights DIM, this includes my Radio and several other indicators. THIS IS NORMAL.. In some cases you can "Cut" a wire (radio) to prevent it if you wish (I do not) but as others have said, Find the control and operate it. IF the headlight switch is a knob you pull. If it's a Toggle or a rather special double toggle (mine is) there should be a nearby wheel and that's it.. Mine is not a ford however.

There is a long thread on irv2.com about this subject. I finally did what many others have and put a LED strip above the dash and now can see very well. Bought it at an auto parts store it is self stick and it is switched on/offf by the switch on the 12v plug from Radio Shack.

I have the same dim dashboard problem in my 2013 F53. I too am looking for a solution to my dim and at times unreadable dash while driving in the daytime.

Have a older F53 and it has a knob that you can turn to change how bright the dash is. Being its a 2016 should be in warranty if no one else has the issue. Should be the same as a 2016 F150, or they use to be the same as F150s.
