Diesel engine storage

Thanks all for your input on what I needed to do. Rv was driven 30 miles round trip to the truck stop,, fuelled up, additive added before fueling and generator exercised. New tires ordered to be installed in Quartzsite by Redlands in mid-January and I think we will be good for a while! Appreciate the wisdom shared here.

Low temps in Arizona right now hover around 50 degrees. Make sure your tank is full to minimize any condensation build up. I add a bottle of 9.1.1. when it's time to move again. Other than that, do nothing.....Dennis

Other than disconnecting the battery, turning off the main power supply or plugging in a tender you don't need to do anything for such short term storage.

Nope you can leave it.

Park it unless you can drive a minimum of 25 highway miles-- long enough to get the OIL, not just coolant up to operating temperature.

Add a BIOCIDE such as Biobor JF to the diesel and fill the fuel tank to minimize condensation.

Won't hurt your tires a bit either if you take it out for a spin. Keeps them from dry rotting.

My DP sat for 4 months once and it was a bear to get the brakes freed up. Now I take my coach for a ride every 6 weeks just to lube everything up, run the generator and get the rust off the brakes. Besides, it's fun to drive so why not. And I too am a biocide believer.

I drive the Sahara once a month until the salt hits the roads then it sits. Howes and/or Power Service fuel treatment in the last fillup in the fall.
