Sorry that your thread has been hijacked! To get back to your question, there is no reason not to use a Genie if you have one but the HR24 will work as well. It's just a matter of whether you would like to have a DVR with 2 tuners or one with 5 tuners and a larger hard drive. They will both work just like they work at home. It is just as easy to move one as move the other. When using a Trav'ler (assuming it's an SK-SWM3) you don't even have to change any of the receiver settings.
