DIY shocks and stabilizer bars on 2003 Freightliner

Where can I find and buy the correct shocks(Bilstein) for my 2003 Fleetwood Excursion with a Freightliner chassis? I also need stabilizer bars ( the rubber ends are bad)and there is one other bar or shock in the middle - I'm not sure what it's called that has bad rubber ends. Is there a Freightliner website that has schematics of their frames? I have a friend with a shop and pnuematic tools willing to help. I just need to find a website or dealer to sell me the parts. I live in the Houston,Tx area. Thanks
  • Jim,

Agree, Freightliner would be great at looking up the OE parts. But if one wants to upgrade, for example the shocks, Freightliner would NOT be a good information source.
  • You should call Freightliner customer service at 1 800 385 4357. They are very helpful and are the best source for finding the proper parts.
  • If you want to improve the ride on the Freightliner, suggest you consider Koni shocks. FSD on the front and adjustable on the rear. Or, adjustable on both. From my experience, Bilsteins will give you a rougher ride.

Also, if you really want to improve the way the FL handles, consider installing Henderson's Supersteer Motion Control Units. They are valves that are easily installed in the air lines at each air bag. The improvement in overall handling of the coach is pretty remarkable, IMO.
