Dometic Oasis Front Entry Awning

Hi All, Our new to us 2015 Discovery 40E has a Dometic door awning that has slack in the fabric on the side closest to the front of the coach. Due to this slack, the awning does not close tightly in the front and bangs in the wind at highway speeds. It does close tight in the back end, as the fabric is tight on that side. Has anyone had this issue, and if so what was the fix? Thx, Jeff
  • Thanks for all the tips, will try in the spring when it is warmer here, BRRR!!
  • If you reduce the amount of outward travel the arms will keep it tight. There is an adjustment for travel but I cannot remember where it is located. Google or check youtube. That is how I found the adjustment when I replaced one of the arms

Assuming you do not have any of the above problems put some tape under the hem of the side that has slack... start with about 1/8th" of folded up tape and see if that is enough to get the slack out when closed.
  • The slack on one end and not the other can also be due to the material not being centered in the upper track and matching roller track.
  • You need to roll out the awning and keep rolling after it extends fully. Usually the fabric is bent over on one end and this causes the other end to have the slack. Doug
  • We had this same issue with our Discovery had to replace the arms they were bent. The coach was under warranty and dealer did the repairs. We never used it after that until we sold the RV the small awning did not really do anything.
