DOMETIC RM 2652 REFRIGERATOR

Members on this forum advised me to replace the heater element when I had the refrigerator tripping the GFI. We replaced the heater element, now we have no light coming on in the front of the frig. This would appear to indicate no electrical power to the refrigerator.

We have power in the electrical outlet at the back of the refrigerator. The circuit board seems to be working because the heater element heats up. The fuse appears to be OK. A second fuse is supposed to be there, but we have not found one along any of the lines.

We are thinking that the heat sensor may be damaged and need replacement. We found when replacing the heater element, that the previous element was placed beside the slide rather than in it. Perhaps that has damaged the heating sensor.

This has been a frustrating few weeks trying to get this thing going for a vacation next week.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to where to look now?

    I know that it will cost however after trying to find a solution for the past few months, I decided I have to turn it over to the people who should know what they are doing. The camping season is very short in this area and July is already gone. I would like to get out to enjoy the outdoors before winter.

    We had a mobile RV service replace our dead Dometic with a same size Norcold. Fridge didn't work until they removed fridge, turned it upside down to get refrigerant circulated and reinstalled right side up. They got a tip from a Norcold technician. May not be your problem though it is fairly common.

    Remove outside lower vent/access cover

    There is a 12V DC terminal Block to the right of control module (lower left corner)

    12V POS and 12V NEG leads are connected to that terminal block
    Check for 12V DC on those leads/connections.
    NO DC then MAIN DC Fuse for fridge circuit is bad

    Got 12V DC at terminal block
    The 12V DC POS lead goes to a t-stat installed on burner stack (Dometic Recall---your model is included in that)

    12V DC POS goes to and then back from that t-stat to control module
    IF that stack temp t-stat is tripped ....NO DC\
    It has a manual reset button in center of it

    Reset if tripped and you should have DC power....display panel lights on
    etc.
    But if tripped it could mean fridge is DEAD. It trips due to HIGH Temps...usually due to bad cooling unit

    If not tripped..then need to remove control module cover and check if 3A fuse on circuit board has blown

    I have a new battery. We did not disconnect anything but the heating element. Have to assume that we have 12 v dc wired to the frig.

    How do we check to make sure?

    You need to have 12 VDC for fridge to work. Whether you are running gas or electric.
