Driver's side window rattles - solutions?

i had a horrible rattle in my driver door window and after 4 years i moved the screen a little forward and whala rattle gone.

I would use the Velcro as "Pogoil" suggested to shim either the sides of the window or bottom. A lot of the older windows came with a felt type strip in the bottom to make them slide easily.

Make it a permanent fix, not one that requires you to add paper clips, close pins or other stuff to make it quiet. Do it right the first time.

Here is my fix:



Hardwood shims with rounded corners. I use them in all slider windows. Very effective. Total cost for 8 windows: about 80 cents.

We use the soft side of Velcro. Line the edge of the window track in a few spots and the window will be tighter in its track.

I use it to quieten my over head TV as well.

Effy; My window rattle as well and to fix this I put a couple short pieces of electrical tape near the top and bottom of the window on vertical surface so the window had a more snug fit. Been there for 5 years and still works. The black tape blends in with the black paint so you don't even notice it. Hope this helps.

Effy, my window doesn't rattle, but when I'm going down the road my overhead TV and a folding end table rattles. I use cedar wedge shaped shims I bought them at Lowes. I marked then cut them to size and I slide them into place to stop the squeaks, when on the road and, I store them in a drawer when I get to my destination.

I use a curtain spring rod to lay in the track with enough pressure to hold the window closed without rattle. Easy to remove for toll booths

Few years ago working at a glass shop, there was some stuff we called felt, put you in the mind of the tar paper used on house roofs before the shingles were put on. The felt was pushed down into the window frame & then the glass installed to make the glass fit tight in the frame.
Once in place, the extra felt was trimmed close to the frame to finish the job.
The felt came in different thicknesses & was just a mater of picking the proper thickness to fill the frame channel.
Check at a glass shop for some of that, get several pieces & different thicknesses & then pry the rubber seal up out of the window frame & install some of the felt in the channel, push the rubber back in & walla, window tightened up to keep from rattling.

I know what robatthelake is saying, cause I drove a Dutch Star like in his avitar a few trips & the drivers window shook all the time or either wind noise from being cracked open. If it had been mine, I would have taken the time to fix the problem, just didnt have permission.

I have the same problem on My Older Rig!
I keep a supply of those plastic Bread Bag closer/tags also Potato Bags Etc handy and slip one in the upper track.
It stops the rattle and doesn't do any harm to the window frame.
