exterior mirrors

Anyone know how to tighten up the arms on the exterior mirrors? They always seem to swing back just enough that I can't see out of them properly.



I probably should allow them to retract when needed in case there's a tight parking spot

    There seem to be at least two approaches to these swing arm mirrors. Wish I could help, but you seem to have the "other" one. By that I mean not the ones I've read about here either breaking or working loose... and that I've worked on.

    I think, though, that if you remove the mirror from the door, you'll be able to see the pivot from the inner/back side of the mounting. And hopefully figure out something to tighten it up.

    Memory tells me the mirror is held with three nuts onto studs in the mirror mount. One of them may be "hidden" behind the door trim panel. I hope not.
