First Class A "PUSHER"

Good Afternoon All -
I am looking for a little advice on purchasing a used Class A pusher. I realize the risk that comes with purchasing something used, but when you are in the under 50K market there isn't much difference in price between gas or Diesel. Having owned EVERY type or trailer known, 9 to be exact, I understand there is a world of opinions out there (the whole Fords and Chevy thing). I am extremely serious about about a 2002 Coachman Cross Country 370DS. It seems like a good fit. But is it. I've never gone down this path. Thanks in advance for your insight

I would think that generally, a diesel of that vintage would have been looked after better than a gasser, and have fewer chassis issues.

So I have the same drive train, 2005, 45k miles. No serious problems, but did have some intermittent check engine lights for a poorly installed turbo boost pressure sensor harness issues. Also two ride hgt sensors.

What problems have you had if any?

I ask because I am trying to decide to keep or move on.

Definitely check out holiday rambler made by monaco. They have several models including the imperial and endeavor. Very nice coaches for the money. And go diesel, you won't be sorry.

This one is pretty nice for the price.

That thing has some miles on it but wow, for the $$$ it looks pretty sweet. Looks to be in great shape too, regardless of the miles.

If a slide isn't an issue thats a bargain.

Either type can have issues. However, think of all the Class A's, B's, or C's that sit in RV parks year-round, for the winter, for the summer, in storage areas. Many full-timers who volunteer or workamp leave them sitting for long periods. People will tell you that they start right up. No problem.

If you're concerned about letting it sit then you might want to consider a trailer.

Thank you guys very much for your insight - By chance, is there any reasonable data on the maintenance between a DP and a gasser? I am concerned I won't be using the DP enough and the sitting will cause more issues.

Was that the Coachman that had the low torque ISB Cummins (not Cummings), and the straight rail, leaf spring chassis???

I seem to remember Coachman using that combination around then - but I could be wrong.

Don't overlook the Beavers. Very high end coaches in their day. Many people have taken great care of theirs and you can probably find some in the 99-2000 range for that. Look them up, they are really nice.
