Fleetwood MH slide is sluggish.

My Fleetwood Expedition, 2001, front slide is a gear driven unit. Its getting sluggish to the point that I have to physically help it mid-way into its extension. Coming back in is no problem. I feel that I should be lubing something but I can't see anything that makes me feel that oil or grease would help. Only the motor, cog wheel and cog track is visible and nothing else that would provide a slide for the slides movement.
  • My batteries are about 3 months old and like others, I will always extend or retract when under shorepower if availble. Shorepower or just battery power doesn't seem to have any effect on it.
I too am under the impression that my system needs no lubrication.
  • I think you have the same slide system we have in our Pace Arrow (Fleetwood). It's a PowerGear system. My docs say that no lubrication is required or needed.
That being said, I used some spray Silicon on mine.

I also never retract my slide without being plugged in or having the genset running. It will come in without those conditions, but it is slower.

  • My Southwind 02 is slow, there are definitely rails on each end that when fully extended can be lubed as well as the rollers. Might want to take another look. Good luck
  • Mine are slow and all I've talked to has said the same thing
  • Have you checked battery voltage. Low voltage is what I understand is the biggest culpret. Larry
