Fold down side step for older dogs

I have a 1992 GMC Vandura, a conversion van that I converted into an RV. It has a running board step to get into the van and front seat. However, it is now too much of a jump for my older dogs with some sight issues. I was wondering if anyone knew where I might find a fold up step that hinges on or plans on how to make one. Here is the van
  • We went through several versions of this for a bigger dog and a taller rise. Carpeted plywood as suggested by mkguitar will be a good solution. If you have a ladder, you can rig it to hang there. If you store it inside, sometimes you'll have to deal with it getting wet.

I also made steps which stored on the ladder. Ramps are bulkier but the dog liked them better. Don't make the ramp too short.
  • I'd use a piece of plywood with carpet attached to it. something sized to fit behind a seat or store somewhere easily

For our Lili I had an inverted "milk crate" with plywood and carpet on it which she used for a step.

and when it wasn;t a step we'd flip it over and store or carry stuff in it.

  • You asked about a "folding" ramp..here is on option.
There are also a number of telescoping ones also.
If you are handy, easy to make one..
Google - homemade dog ramps for options.
