A timely "fix" was found in Memphis, TN.
Had TWO failing coils & ALL 10 plugs replaced to get us well again.
PM me for positive experience & comments about MHC 'Ford Truck' Service. I will reply after we return to CA.
THANX AGAIN!

When was the fuel filter last changed? Clogged filters can cause the same thing.

THANX ALL...The many comments are appreciated!
The rig is still running (poorly) at about 50-55 mph. We limped into Little Rock, & are now parked in the Camping World parking lot. Making calls & reviewing options & awaiting daylight. Too bad it's the WEEKEND with many businesses being closed. Before "retirement", I never thought a sentence like that would EVER pass my lips!
Any Ford Truck Service Centers in THIS area? If not ---> perhaps B&E Auto if we can make it.

Why Camping World??
New Dometic portable freezer CFX65DZ is having compressor problems & is now threatening to ruin food. WHEN IT RAINS....

When did it start to happen ? First start up of the day ? driving down the road ?
Just fill the tank and within so many miles it started to act up??

Since its Sat and nobody will be open tomorrow , try to do a few things that have been suggested here if you feel ok doing them.
Do the basics pull the doghouse off and look around abit , no obvious wires loose ? while running no arcing anywhere ? (plug wires) etc..

Could have picked up some bad fuel ? Coils could have crapped out on ya.

Whatever the case good luck to you and hope its something simple !

Spark plug + boot + coil pack. Expect a coil pack to cost in the neighborhood of $75 USD. A spark plug boot is inexpensive. If you change a spark plug I recommend installing a new boot on it, even if the coil pack doesn't need to be changed.

B&E Auto Services

Millington, TN 38053

I live in Bartlett, which is about a 30 minute drive from Millington, but I won't take my vehicles anywhere else.

Call them to see if they can work on something as big as a MH. I have never needed to take my MH to the shop.

Suggest you stop at an auto parts store,(Auto Zone, etc,) and have them code scan your engine. This should help give you a strong indication of your problem.

We have the Good Sam's Roadside Assistance and when have been on the road and had a problem they first asked if we would talk to one of there techs to see if we could trouble shoot it ourselves and when that did not work out they located a mobile mechanic and paid the service call for them to come out and we then paid labor and parts. The last time this happened the mobile mechanic found and fixed the electrical problem in less than thirty minutes and his service call included the first 45 minutes of labor so there was no labor charge.

On my old 1999 F250 V10 I had 2 coils go bad. I was the culprit as I washed the motor and the boots around the coils were bad and cracked. The water shorted out 2 coils. Even with 2 down the only way I could discern the issues was to replace a coil and then take the truck for a ride as it would only miss under a load. The cause of your problem sounds different but it is likely the same result. In my 1999, it didn't set a code or even light the SES light. If you want peace of mind, replace all the coils along with the plugs and foam rubber boots. Have your mechanic put a dab of dielectric grease on each boot to help it seal and make removal easier next time.
I am NOT a mechanic although I do play one in my garage!

probably a bad coil...loss of only 1 coil makes it feel like it will jumo out of the rig. You can find the bad one by unplugging the power connector at each coil one at a time....the good ones will produce a drop in RPM the bad one no change. Also ther is usually a crack in the potting on the top of the coil when it goes bad. I keep spars and a 6 mm socket in the glove box ro a just incase repair. I buy the coils on ebay for about 8 bucks each with a new boot.

Give Rush Truck Service a call. Ford trucks on the far west side of OKC right on Interstate 40. 405-782-3510 A Flying J is right next door. This area of town is kind of the center of service/repair for cross country trucks on Interstate 40 between Amarillo and Fort Smith.

I have never used them but they are a pretty big outfit. http://www.rushtruckcenterokcity.com/

You don't say where you are currently located. Lots of service facilities on 40 in Amarillo and great folks in the panhandle that usually go out of their way to help people in my experience. Even if they are Texans;)

If you are west of Amarillo, you might pull into the Oasis RV Resort a few miles west of town and get some advice from them as to service. It is a pretty new, real nice place that has a lot of cross country business and I bet they could be helpful (806) 356-8408

It would be helpful if you posted your current location. Good luck.

Sorry for your problems. Take it to any dealer that sells/repairs Ford trucks. Your engine has an individual ignition coil mounted on each of the 10 spark plugs. While the symptom you describe could be one of several things I would first go to one of those coils (relatively cheap and easy to replace). These engines run pretty smoothly on only 9 cylinders, at higher RPM's but misfires are most noticeable at idle.

Throw a can of concentrated fuel injector cleaner in the tank until you get to a garage. Check all your spark plug wires for tightness. Change the air cleaner.
