Forest River/Coacnmen

Looking at 2 Coachmen RVs with bunks Both Mirandas one 2010 one 2013
Just realized Coachmen is owned by Forest River Is their quality any better then Forest River
  • My experience with Forest River has been excellent so I would look upon it as being a plus that Coachmen is now owned by Forest River. Ever since Berkshire Hathaway purchased Forest River their quality and customer service seem to be improving dramatically.
  • I had a 2011 Coachmen Mirada 35DS by Forest River that I sold last fall. My reason for selling was we were entering a period where RV-ing was not an option for us and I didn’t want it to just sit in storage. We used it for 3 seasons and made 13,000 trouble free miles. I had it back to the dealer once for two minor issues. It had a squeak coming from the DS slide and the entry door had to be realigned. Those were the only issues we had with it and both were addressed to our satisfaction. We are now back to shopping for a new RV and will likely buy a Tiffin with a floorplan we really like. I will be a very happy camper if I have as few problems with my Tiffin as I had with my Coachmen.
  • We've owned both a Coachman TT and a motorhome, the 2007 Epic we now full-time in. We've had no problems with either -- if they were still in business I would buy from them again. Now a Forrest River product (I think they were taken over in 2010) I'd have some questions.
  • I have a Coachmen SportsCoach 385DS (2013). It is nice.

I have had some teething issues, not on the part of Coachmen though (Freightliner issue).

Fit and finish is what we expected. It is a really nice unit for the price we paid. (1/3 of what the high end coaches cost) and it gets us to the campgrounds, with heat, AC, hot water etc!

Feel free to email me, I'll help you with whatever questions you have (or even send pics!)

    Mal
  • I had a forest river 5th wheel toyhauler, it was a complete piece of junk. Never again. Quality, fit and finish, routing of water/power/drain lines was horrible. Never did get the garbage shower drain to stop duming 20 gallons of water at a time and soaking the floor underneath. Never again.
  • You could also look around the Forest River Forums to get some owners feedback. I can't include the link because the admins here think I am advertising for them but in fact, I am just a Forest River owner.
    Good luck.
  • Thanks for the information Your RV was made before Forest River took over. Wonder if it makes a difference
  • I owned a Mirada from 2000 to 2008 and my experience is good. Quality was in line with other entry level class A's and the dealer was a joy to work with over the years.

Most anything that Coachman built met expectations, can't say the same for the Workhorse part. The old auto park brake was a real PITA.
