Forest River Forester open shelf?

I have a 2017 Forest River Forester 3051. It has this weird open cabinet above the stereo/dvd player seen in the picture above. What have you guys done with this open spot? It doesnt have a door or net or anything...
  • With the antenna jacks etc., I would venture to guess that it's intended for a satellite receiver and/or DVR.

We have a similar spot on our old Jayco. It has a rail across the top, so it looks like a cabinet with no door. The cable connections etc are in it like yours. Turned out to be the right spot for a DVD player, VCR, and Digital Converter Box. I put screw eyes into the floor of that "cabinet" and ran a bungee cord across the stack of equipment. It stays in place very well.
  • How do you guys secure the dish receiver in there? Bungy cords, as previously mentioned?
  • Is there a lower lip on the opening? If so, that will probably do it. If not, an easy way would be an expanding spring loaded curtain rod. Just put it across the bottom of the opening. Or better yet, behind the opening, if there are lips on the sides.

No lower lip or lip on the sides. Maybe I'll find a door to put there.

I've made clamps using DIY aluminum strips, and screw drive radiator hose clamps.

Cut and bend the strip to form a bracket that cradles the item, and two little right angle brackets. Leave space so they don't reach each other.

Cut two hose clamps in two and pop rivet half to the bracket and half to the angles.

Connect the two halves of the hose clamps and snug the screw to hold the item. You can pad with rubber, foam, etc. if you like.
