Forester 2301

We have been rving in a truck camper the last dozen years and are now considering moving to a class c. Today, we looked at a 2014 Forester 2301 and it seemed very nice. Asking price in mid 50's. Opinions on this particular model and or price would be appreciated.
  • We have the twin, a 2014 Sunseeker 2300. Well, the Forrester might have a few minor upgrades. We bought ours new for $50,300 plus tax. That was with the TV deleted and the Arctic Pack added. And the pretty much standard not optional "option package" that includes the hard front cap and AC and all the other normal goodies. So 2 years later, your price is very high. You can get a 2016 for mid-50s, I bet. Go to RVDirect.com and get a price quote for delivery at their nearest dealer to you. That's what I did. Once I had that, I went on RVTrader.com or whatever it's called, and found dealers within a day's drive who had the same model listed for sale. I found 3 or 4, and 2 of them were willing to beat or match the RVDirect price. Then I called the dealer close to me. He didn't have one but was willing to order one for even less than the other two. So we went with the local guy. If you want to deal on the one you are looking at, I'd guess it should be mid to upper 30s. Take the 2016 RVDirect price to that dealer. Maybe he'll get real and maybe he'll just keep waiting for an uniformed buyer. Don't pay the new price for a 2 year old MH.

We like the 2300. We have the Chevy chassis, which may or may not be currently available. The quality control is pretty much typical entry level RV. Don't buy it expecting a Lexus. Nevertheless I would buy one again. It's a price:value proposition.
