We carry about 1/4 tank all the time. This weekends trip will require about 1/2 tank. We can carry a max of 90 gallons. Way to much unless we are boondocking for a week or more. Then we need the blue tank also. Because black and gray tanks only hold 37 gallons each.

So sorry guys, but this is where I take the left fork on the road. I carry just the amount of water I think I will need. Sometimes with no more than a quarter tank of water. Why carry around extra weight. I know I live life dangerously, but I also don't travel with a full tank of gas, or carry the kitchen sink with me. The lighter the load I have to pull, the better. This lifestyle may not be for you, but I live life on the edge.

Always travel with a full tank of fresh water. Does not change vehicle handling.

If you're going to travel in the U.S. in certain places this summer, water may not be as available as it used to be. I'd recommend always leaving home in the RV with it's FW tank full.

One gallon of water is 8.4 lb. I have a 25 gallon tank, I think. So full it's 210lb, which is roughy 1.9% of GVW. Basically a drop in the bucket. And it's always better to have water then not to have it, just in case.

For us it depends on where we are headed. If my next stop is our dry camping spot, I will fill up at home. But if we are headed to a hook up site or a long journey, we will fill about 1/3 for use along the way.
