- Tax_ManExplorerI see several gassers towing Chevy trucks with 4 wheels down. However, the toad is a 4x4. If you read the owners manual of the Silverado, it states do not tow 4 wheels down if it is a 2 wheel drive. If it is a 4x4 you put the transfer case in neutral. Have fun.....
- LancsladExplorerSee my signature.Ford V10 with 5k hitch. We have just done an Alaska trip with no problems towing.Remember it's not how much you can tow, it's how you stop that matters!!
- mowermechExplorerBehind my motorhome (see sig.) I have towed a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited (modified), a Dodge Ram 1500 Quad cab short box 4X4, and a PT Cruiser on a dolly.
No, I have no idea what any of them weighed.
I am tempted to try towing my current truck, but I know it weighs too much. I think if I modified the hitch it would work, but I would have to get a 10K capacity towbar.
A good used dolly for the PT would be cheaper... - outofplaceExplorer5000Lbs is the towing capacity. I have a chevy 8.1 with allison. I did brace up my hitch some becuase I knew I was pulling more than it was rated for when pulling the race car. Still it pulls just fine.He will be fine with a Gas coach

- jeeperdude10ExplorerOne other thought-you could always rent a vehicle when you get to destination. Of course will prevent some excursions along the way. Just an alternative.

Looking through some of the motorhome specs it seems if I want to pull that truck with a gas motorhome I may be better off with a class c.
regardless, it's all about weights and weight ratings. since you're doing tnis bass-akwards you need to first know what your truck weighs with a full tank of fuel ut otherwise empty. then see my earlier post on how to determine how much weight can ve safely towed. good luck. - Brandon327ExplorerLooking through some of the motorhome specs it seems if I want to pull that truck with a gas motorhome I may be better off with a class c.

Here's a friend towing his 3/4T Diesel behind his MH. It can be done if you have the horse power / torque and a strong hitch. His truck is a 4X4 with a transfer case that when shifted into neutral, makes the truck towable. He used to tow an Excursion but got fed up with the driveline disconnect.
Bill
Your friend has a 20,000 lb. towing capacity with his Marathon. I just wonder how he gets four-wheeler up on top of the truck!
That Marathon is a special edition using Volkswagen back lights and special wheel flairs over the drive and tag axle.
Safe travels,
MM.
