Gas or diesel?

RayUSMC

Can we discuss pros & cons re gas or diesel? We're still looking at Bs. Some are gas, some diesel. We don't like the higher $/gal of diesel because it would offset any real savings from the higher mpg rvs for trips.

Anyone here with a diesel that has also owned a gas? Would you share the comparison?

Not exactly. It's not on their very long price sheet, updated 7/1/14 as I quoted.

Yet I posted a link with builtd in it and several of their members mention buying it it in their forums?

Looks like the plateau can have an onan 3200 fitted.

Really? That is a 2004 model! Just because something was done before, doesn't mean you can get it now. There could be a variety of reasons why they dropped it, including the design of the van changing, demand, or cost. It's not on their current options list.

As I pointed out, they show it on one page, but not another where you place your order. Obviously they have offered it. I'm suggesting that maybe it's not available any longer, or you have to source it yourself and provide it to them, I don't know.

Thing is yesterday it was "not available"

The class B C thing changes the numbers, but the more I look the more I find them.

There are three different entities calling themselves sport(s) mobile.

Looks like the plateau can have an onan 3200 fitted. Heres one for sale with one anyway- who's that pleasure way?

I'm just guessing SM would do a diesel gen. on a Van. Probably a raised 4X4, but I doubt it would be a Class B probably just some sort of a conversion van. SM does a lot of things, and it's possible they could fit everything in, but on a smaller scale, and make it a Class B.
(For it to be a Class B it would need to be fully self contained have a kitchen, bath, bed,
and holding tanks.)

Advanced offers a lot of option and will probably custom build anything you request.

I couldn't say sports mobile the only one just the only one I have found in 2 days- we started from "not available period".

Im looking for the advanced vid where mike mentions they put one in but now I have to watch all 30 video again.

My thick old skull had a definition of class c Ive understood since the 80's isn't correct anymore, or maybe wasn't ever in any case Ive been informed about how I feel about the definition by the moderator.

If what I thought were "B" are really C's it narrows it down dramatically.

That was posted 2 years ago, and all he said was they were testing one. I don't think they ever found a diesel generator that would work for them. It seems, as Davydd posted, they are working towards an engine generator, and larger battery banks.

Dimonsdea had mentioned in Oct of 2013(when he bought his) they hadn't been approved for a dual engine generator yet.

He also mentions he can't run the Ac all night.

Well UD, I just spoke with Advanced RV. No conventional general today, E-Trek like only. They have used a propane generator, but Never any diesel generator. He knew of no diesel generator with enough output to fit under a Sprinter.

Very knowledge folks at Advanced RV.

Oh well, maybe someday you'll find a B manufacturer that offers a diesel generator.

Bud

Thats funny he claims to hav been testing them in october of 2012. Which is it?

Maybe if they didn't and aren't - they should edit their site and videos.

On class B's-

didn't we establish sport mobile is a B and uses the power tech?

Dude, how do I get it thru your thick skull that that is a development blog? It's trying and testing a variety of things. They may have put it in a test van, or even a customer's van. That doesn't make it an offering, or put it on a build/option sheet. They don't publish a build or spec sheet on their site. Probably because it's changing all the time as new equipment comes available.

Somehow, since 2012, they got past the issue of using the second alternator with Mercedes. What that solution was, we don't really know. We don't really know for sure if it's resolved even. Perhaps Advanced and Roatrek are just proceeding anyways. Someone with some actual knowledge of the subject can comment on that.
