- Argosy24ExplorerIt's 90 miles to the closest General location for me, I'd keep a list and make the trek for parts every now and then. I ordered a brown couch, when it came in they called and I made the drive in the snow. Got there and it was blue, big letters on the box BLUE!!
I asked why they had called, the woman said she didn't think I would notice. You can't make this stuff up. Never went back.
Like was said, it's a big outfit, there's probably a lot of turnover, experiences will change with time. - bren5666ExplorerThe Canton store really wanted me to buy their last AR-One they had had for some time. I did really like it, but they balked when I asked to look at a couple other models. When I went to do financing, my payment was suddenly $40 a month more than what we had discussed,AFTER he had supposedly talked to the bank and told me the original payment. He said the bank had made the mistake. Finally, I had an agreement that they would keep the trailer for a month and that they would put a temp tag on it when I come to get it. Called twice to confirm when I was getting it. I get there, hitch up and see it has no tag. I was told "sorry, we mailed you title out yesterday, you can't get a tag for it now." I was then told that I could haul it the 20 miles without a tag and I'd be ok.Wasn't going to try that! Luckily I had a dealer plate with me. I should have walked from the deal, but their pricing was just too good even with the hassles. I'll just never set foot in there store again.
- GWKExplorerWe bought a Diesel MH from General in Canton, Ohio in 2010. Their price was good but that was it. Everything else was terrible. I would not go near there.
- JTHarleyExplorerOver the years I've bought 6 motorhomes and my first 4 where from General. The shops in Michigan are really good. If you do buy from them the service department gives you "priority" if any repairs need to be done. I felt I got good pricing from them and whenever I took it in for service I was satisfied with the repair and the cost.
- Followin__the_sExplorerWe bought our Bounder from General at the Illinois store. We were very happy with our experience and would buy from them again. The service work we had done there was good without any hassles.
- bsinmichExplorerWe have bought one from the Wixom location and the last from the Wayland location and also Larry Klunder. We have had all kinds of RVs since 1969 so this is not our first. The 2 from General RV were the smoothest we have ever had. Service was also great at both. Since I live a mile from Holland Motor Homes that is where I go for all my service. Holland is also great but they don't have anything in my price range. Their service dept is great though.
- KazooTomExplorerBought our current motor home last year from the Wayland location. It was a very p;leasant buying experience. Salesperson was Larry Klunder who treated us very well, and no high pressure. He answered all our questions and was very patient working with us.
We were also very pleased with their service area. There were several areas that we had them attend to and all was done quickly and accurately. I also like that they have drive in service. No appointment needed for taking care of the small stuff. Just drive in and they will take care of you. We had one item that needed to have parts ordered. As soon as the parts were in they called us. Drove up the next morning and was taken care of immediatly, no waiting. - Eric_and_KarenExplorerI get service work done by their Wixom MI location, and have been happy with the work they have done.
- the_silverbackExplorerI haven't had good luck with them. Nor has my best friend. I live in southern Mic Mich. and got better deals on two MH's in IN. Their labor rate is also $20.00/hour higher than some dealers in IN.
- okgcExplorerWe bought our Tiffin RED from General RV in Wayland and would shop there again.
Our salesman Floyd broke the mold as he was pleasant to deal with and extremely knowledgeable about MHs.
The business manager we were stuck with for paper signing was a PIA with all the extra stuff he tried to sell us and did not like being told NO. That was the only negative to the purchase.
