Generator

Getting ready to do oil and coolant change on a quiet diesel generator. Unit stops every now and then, has anyone installed gauges for the oil pressure and coolant temperature? May change the belt while I am working on the unit.

my bad - i should have stuck to your original question (and not keyed so much off a responders comments).

having just installed a EC-30w i cant imagine going with any solution other than onan....it was more expensive than some alternative but it was completely plug & play (didn't take me 30 minutes).

google is showing the gauge package as low as 198 bucks for the 300-5027
I wish a similar solution was available for my 10kw

  • you don't say what model you have -

    I too would like to add some gauges to mine....onan makes a set for the 6k, 7.5k & 8k - p/n 300–5218 or 300–5027.

you should be able to find the model manuals on-line pretty easily.
if you have a 10k/12.5k let me know - ill send you the file.
  • If your unit is an Onan Quiet Diesel, read the manual before you drain the coolant. There is supposedly a specific procedure for adding the replacement coolant to insure it is filled properly and completely.
