GPS, What a good one for RV'ing?

My personal advice is to stay away from the RVND 5510 or 7710. They have lots of features, very RV friendly but the processor is garbage. I have had it replaced 2x because it would simply freeze up, usually in the most convenient places like the Washington DC beltway. And then it turned off never to power up again. I was told the first time by a non English speaking customer service rep that it may have bad files and I needed to do a correction. That took about 4 hours. The map downloads are painfully slow and for whatever reason my new one they sent me 6 months later is freezing up requiring continual reboots and then tells me my route will be on dirt roads in .6 miles. Odd when you are on I 95. Happens EVERY time I boot it up. When it works it's great. Unfortunately it's not systemically reliable and craps out when you need it most. The touch response time is horrible. Literally 10-15 seconds after I touch it before it reacts. And heaven forbid you ponder whether it accepted a command because if you touch it again it simply stops working. And Heavy.. It's a brick and requires a bigger than usual mounting surface. Velcro won't cut it with this monster. . It's only redeeming function is a paperweight as despite it's leaden feel it's still too light for a boat anchor.

I ordered mine yesterday from garmin factory outlet store. Ordered a nuvi 2595lmt. Had the best ratings of any I looked at. Looked at the Rand McNally and they do not get very high ratings. The garmin store had the best prices, with free shiping and no taxes

I think there are POIs for them, that you can add-on.

I didn't ask the rep on the phone about that, but most/a lot of truck stops have them. Some flying J and Petro's have them. A truckers map will also give you a lot of info about a truck stop. i.e. showers and other services.

I've used the 760 on one trip and it seems to be more than adequate. The routing did get a bit odd as we approached the RV park. I knew where I was going and it wasn't the way I'd go, with nothing but right turns, but it got us there.

Yup, I was right, the 760 has an RV mode

I called Garmin today, you were right. The 760LMT Dezl for truckers does everything i need and more, with life time updates. It also updates road conditions every 30sec. It does not set to RV, but one can set it to haz. material because we are carring propane. Garmin has it listed for 399.00 but i'll shop around.

Rich, I suspect the 560 might suit you better, as it does have an RV mode (I thought the 760 does also, but I can't prove that this moment). The 560 also should have better battery life
