Gulfstream Water Heater Light and Switch

I have a Gulfstream Class C. When the inside water heater is switched off, the red switch light next to the switch comes on. When I switch the water heater on , the light goes out. Seems it should be the opposite. Anyone else with a Gulfstream have the red switch light on when the switch is off? How about anybody with this?

The switch for the electric heating element is not a factory set up. Someone added a switch for a bath exhaust fan. Either they wired it wrong or that switch is supposed to light up, indicating that the fan is off. What ever they did is wrong.

The electric heating element is burned out. I suspect that while I had the motorhome in for other repair, someone saw the light on and switched the light off. This would then turn the element on without water causing it to burn out. That light is confusing in that it is opposite of the way it should work. Yes it is SW6DE.

Suburban Water Heater SW6DE? There's a tag in the right side of the frame inside the cover door.

Our Jayco has what looks like a residential wall switch but with an indicator light. And the Light is ON when the Electric side of the Water Heater is ON.

If it's working the opposite - Indicator ON when Heater OFF, I suspect the Indicator is miswired.

The Electric feature IS working, right? I ask because if it's SW6DE, Suburban tucked a switch into the left side of the heater's panel, again under the cover door, but hidden behind another part.

I have a 2007 Gulfstream Yellowstone Cruiser with a Suburban gas/electric water heater. I am talking about the electric heating switch and light.

Red light is whenever heater is turned on, and gas has not ignited. Ours stays on about 10 seconds after switch is turned on, then goes out when flame lights. Standard safety feature of gas water heaters.

When I turn the gas water heater on in my Itasca, a red light comes on and stays on, until the gas ignites in the heater.

No Gulfstream, but the red light on mine comes on when the heater is turned on but the heater does not ignite. It might help to tell us the make of the heater.
