Hallelujah! It's all falling into place!!!

Just got the letter from the SSA that my disability case was approved! Two years of doctor visits, pokes, prods, dumb questions, and LOTS of waiting, two denials, and finally got it going!

Just made a firm offer to a gentleman I've been talking to for the last four months about a 93 Beaver Baronet with 69k on the odometer. He accepted it, and once I get my back pay check, I'm driving up there to get it. I feel like I got a great deal as these coaches are selling for 40k and up for the same model year, and I got this one for 12.5k. Cat 3116 turbo diesel, all works, except genset, but he has another genset that is gas, not propane. I'm going to take the propane stuff off of the dead one, and put it on the gas unit.

I plan on taking it on a few local lake trips, get a feel for what works well, and what needs tweaking. I plan on installing a flat screen TV and some rugs to protect the carpet. Will have my limber young son get up on the roof to seal everything that appears to need a fresh coat.

Can't wait to get the coach, been looking all over the internet for more information on this model year, but findings are scarce.

Not to bust your bubble but............I was approved in January 2010 and didn't receive my check for 6 months. I hope your seller can wait that long.

You should have gotten your backpay within 90 days of your fully favorable listing. However, if you qualified for both SSI and SSDI, the SSI portion takes a while longer to clear, due to you having to prove your assets, etc. I just told them to drop the SSI part, as it would only cover the portion for the 5 months after your initial claim. I would have been financially ineligible anyhow, so it was a waste of time, and would delay my final clearance.

The 6 month waiting period has pretty much been the norm for several years now. The are less ALJs to do more work. Sadly, but the reason more and more people are getting approved has to do with caseload. If an ALJ denies the claim, then they have a mountain of paperwork to contend with. If the claim is approved, it is a simple letter to the beneficiary and one to the beneficiaries attorney. The rest is just wait time for the wheels to begin turning.

  • Glad you all have found something to enjoy in your disability. Enjoy your beavers.

  • Congrats on the SS disability. It took me 5 years to receive mine. That was 15 years ago now. I have a 2001 Beaver Contessa and love it. Good luck with yours and have a good time!
