Hard wired Surge Protector wire strippers?

Pair of precisely used side cutters works too.

6g wire will take a specialty stripper. I would go with a pocket knife.

I think the tool above with blue handles is the best for bigger jobs, but just few years ago have discovered tool below.
It has cutters for #12 and #14 cable insulation what made HUGE difference in household wiring and bonus - I am using the same blade with small pressure to cut insulation on big wires by turning it around the wire. Knife works, but too easy to undercut the copper with it.


You can't buy those at Home Depot, nor local hardware.

I would and have done what "bumpyroad" suggested. Don't cut the cord, just go to Home Depot or Lowes. They sell the same cord by the foot. Usually about three feet will do what you need.

Pocket knife has been working for 60 years. I just checked, and, Yep, it still works.

Like the rest, a sharp knife is probably the best and easiest way. But, if possible, try not to score the wires. Not so much on #6 wire, but stranded smaller wires, if scored, tend to break off and shed a few strands, especially if in a flex situation. So what you end up with is a technically smaller wire. Have never seen it make enough difference to talk about, but just a bit of caution is better than a heavy-handed attack. Back in my days in fabrication on the space programs, a almost invisible nick could cost a good days work. Some of those inspectors were VERY picky!

X5 with a knife or a good set of wire cutters. Score around a few times with sharp wire cutters, then pull/strip.
